Career and Technical Education Program

 

Accounting: Students learn how an accounting system is set up and used for service businesses, merchandising businesses, and corporations. Much of what is accomplished will require journalizing entries in a workbook as well as using Quickbooks. Students will be able to work through business simulations as though working for a company.

Business Math 1: Students learn about banking applications, percentages, payroll, commissions, trade and cash discounts, markup, simple interest, notes with variable interest, and charges for credit. 1/2 year course Able to earn 4 college credits, BA104
Business Math 2: Students learn about inventories, depreciatioon, financial statement analysis, stocks and bonds, compound interest present and future value. 1/2 year course Able to earn 4 college credits, BA 105
Calculating Machines: Students will learn the 10-key by touch. There drills to learn different operations used in business, then complete a simulation as if working in a business completing different business documents. 1/2 year course Able to earn 2 college credits, BT 220
Desktop Publishing: Students will increase their knowledge of creating and producing professional looking documents using basic design concepts. 1/2 year course Able to earn 3 college credits, BT 206
Integrated Business: Students will get to try a variety of these business classes listed here as 3-week long courses. A great way get a range of business experiences without choosing just one topic for a semester. 1 year course No college credit available
Introduction to Data Processing: Students are able to learn many of the applications within the Office Suite. They will be managing files, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and powerpoint.. There will be projects that put all of these applications together. 1 year course Able to earn 4 college credits, BA 131
Introduction to Word Processing: Students learn touch keyboarding. This is a typing course beginning with learning the keyboard and typing without looking at the keys, to using the correct format for letters, memos, tables and reports. 1 year course Able to earn up to 5 college credits, BT 120 and BT 121
Marketing: Students will learn many aspects of marketing including math, communication, management, selling, promotion, distribution, buying and pricing, cash flow and inventory. Students will work on a retail simulation as well as manage and run the student store. 1 year course Able to earn 3 college credits, BA 249
Multimedia Design: Students have the option of choosing from the Adobe series: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver or Flash. The produce a wide variety of documents. 1/2 year course No college credit available
TSA Projects: Students have the opportunity to get ready for all Technology Student Association events in this class. They work on a variety of hands-on building and designing projects. 1/2 year course No college credit available
Web Design: Students will use web page authoring tools as well as HTML to develop web pages and manage web sites. Students will study the mechanics and practical application of these tools as well as the principle of good design. 1/2 year course Able to earn 4 college credits, CS 195
Word Processing: Student learn the more advanced features of word processing, including mail merge, sorting, columns, tables, and macros. There will be a lot of editing and formatting. There is a heavy emphasis on correctness that comes from following directions and careful proofreading. 1 year course Able to earn 3 college credits, BT 201M
